Photoshoots and Moodswings

Photoshoots and Moodswings

Monday started quite rocky for me mentally. Sometimes I get myself stuck in a rut with life due to being lazy and it is lazy. Later on in the day I started to feel quite poorly and had cold and flu like symptoms to I […]

Tupholme Abbey At Dusk.

Tupholme Abbey At Dusk.

Here I am again, at Tupholme abbey. One of my favourite places to go, (Tupholme abbey at dusk is especially magical!) mainly because it’s easy to get to. I’ve been here in total darkness before with a friend  for one of their photography projects.  We went back to visit me, Stewart and Nicola, whilst on a little ghost hunt. There is supposed to be a ghost of a white dog, Stewart said are you sure it’s not just a sheep  – He had a valid point.

The way that the moon placed in the arches of these windows was absolutely stunning and captured my eye completely. I thought it was stunning so I  did what I do best and took a photograph. These images were taken with my Canon 6D and edited on the Adobe Lightroom mobile app with a preset in the black and white section.

I thought that these pictures were really something beautiful to look at and fit’s the complete theme of the night, spooky, magical and just mystical. I would love some feedback on these images. What do you think? Personally, I think that the contrast is really lovely in these images however, some people might think that this is too much contrast.

Macro Photography Wars – Canon 6d vs. iPhone 7 plus

Infrared Fine Art Portraiture

Black and White Portraits With Nicola

Black and White Portraits With Nicola

First of all, Don’t you think there is something completely unique about the natural portraiture photography that you get during a photoshoot? Portrait photography is one of my favorite genres of photography. The photoshoot that initially brought me these photographs was a lot different to these and take on a completely different atmosphere, however, these out-takes have become some of the favorites from the day. I have fallen absolutely in love with these images. There’s no actual concept to them but you can tell just how much fun we were having together and that’s really important when you’re working with a model. If you’re able to make your model feel comfortable then you’re going to get the best results, trust me.

Using the blonde wig that Nic was sporting oh-so-beautifully, helped frame her face beautifully and separate her features from the other objects within the photograph. The images themselves I feel are quite atmospheric. I love a photograph that can make you feel something and these images do just that.

All of the pictures below were taken with a shallow depth of field. In my opinion, helps create that atmospheric and more natural look within a photograph and is something I tend to reach for in all of my portraiture shoots.

Whisby Lakes – Black & White Infrared

Whisby Lakes – Black & White Infrared

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to get out and use my infrared camera due to lending it to a friend for her final major project, but now I have it back and I took full advantage of having my little creative friend back in my life and chose to go straight out and take some images.
Luckily, The weather was beautiful, rich blue skies and beaming sunshine, meaning beautiful results. It was glorious to be able to get out and shoot for the sake of it and relax instead of for an academic assignment.
All images in this post were taken with an infrared converted camera (Canon 400d) and a 28-80mm lens.
I am thinking about writing a post on how I edit my infrared images if this is something you’d be interested in reading then let me know!
